Measurement readiness levels
Six levels set what can honestly be claimed: no analytics; page views only; named events; a value event with quantity tied to users; plus each session's trigger type with messaging and commerce events; plus experiment exposure logs and surveys. When the binding stage needs more, a cheap measurement lane runs in parallel and never blocks.
Plain label: what the data can supportAlso known as: readiness L0-L5, measurement lane, claim limits
| Level | What exists | What can be claimed |
|---|---|---|
| L0 | No analytics | Interview and screenshot diagnosis; before/after designs only |
| L1 | Page views or sessions only | Funnel shape |
| L2 | Named events, no value event with quantity | Step funnels |
| L3 | A value event with quantity, plus identity | Retention curves, L28, habitual-user rate |
| L4 | L3 plus each session's trigger type, messaging and commerce events | Unprompted share, trigger-type mix, conversion by tenure, hook cycle time |
| L5 | L4 plus experiment exposure logs and surveys | Trustworthy A/B readouts, sample-ratio checks, PMF and habit pulses |
Lane order. Instrument the value event and each session's trigger type first, then re-baseline after 2-4 weeks; confidence stays Low until then. A venue that logs assignment itself (an email split, an ad-platform test, an experiment platform) satisfies the top level for that one test.
