Metric
DAU/MAU stickiness
Average daily actives divided by monthly actives (value event, not logins). Meaningful mainly for daily social and messaging products; weekly products use WAU/MAU. Episodic products can be great businesses with low ratios.
Plain label: daily share of monthly activesAlso known as: stickiness, WAU/MAU, DAU/WAU
Reference points from filings (benchmark confidence A): Facebook about 69% (Q4 2023) and Duolingo about 40% (Q4 2025). Email and push tend to inflate casual monthly actives more than daily ones. Each category has a natural cadence; a product around 10% is rarely pushed to 40% by effort alone. Use it only on frequency-led habit routes with a daily cadence.
