Habitual-user rate
Share of activated users who meet the route's devoted cadence in the read week (week 8 by default). Compared with a 5% bar that is Hooked's rule of thumb, not a scientific cut-off, and read on the habit horizon.
Plain label: share at the devoted cadenceAlso known as: habitual rate, devoted users, habit rate
Devoted cadence, countable. Daily: the value event on at least 5 of the last 7 days. Several per week: at least 3 of 7 (per account for B2B). Weekly: at least 3 of the last 4 weeks. Monthly: at least 2 of the last 3 months. Natural cycle: a repeat within the cycle plus 14 days of grace. Set the cadence from typical users, never extreme ones. HK-MEA01 (Hooked Ch.8)
The bar. At least about 5% habitual (Hooked's rule of thumb; benchmark confidence C); under 2.5% counts as far below [Analyst]. Below the bar, either the target users or the product is wrong.
Habit horizon. Habits take weeks to months, so this is a durability read (12 weeks or more on daily routes), never the decision metric of a short experiment.
Limits
What we don’t claim
- The Hook Model is a practical design tool, not a validated or complete theory of behavior.Hooked, Introduction
- The threshold is a heuristic, not a measured cut-off.
- Habit metrics need the longer habit horizon (weeks to months) before they can be read.
