A first social reward from a real person, fast
Route a newcomer's first post, workout or project to real people who respond quickly, and show the value of the community in the first session rather than weeks later.
Plain label: early, real encouragementAlso known as: kudos, welcome cohort, front-load community, first reply, likes, social validation
How it works
Recognition from real people is a strong social reward, and an early one tells newcomers their effort is seen. Products that hold social features back until later often lose people before they ever experience them; one fitness app kept its community at the front and won where a solitary logger felt like a chore.
Evidence warning
Bots or staff posing as peers break trust once discovered.
What the research says
A fitness network reported 14 billion kudos given in one year (company-reported).
