Get variety from people and creation
Products whose novelty comes from other people and from what users create stay fresh; products whose content can be finished become predictable. Add co-creation, community galleries, shared spaces or user templates so the next visit is never fully known.
Plain label: variety that renews itselfAlso known as: user-generated content, infinite variability, community library, template marketplace, multiplayer, remix
How it works
Once an experience becomes predictable, its pull fades. Variety supplied by other people and by creation keeps changing without the company producing every piece, so it lasts longer than a fixed catalog, as in multiplayer games and design-sharing communities.
Evidence warning
Even renewable variety loses users when something newer arrives; it slows decline rather than stopping it.
What the research says
A design tool's community listed 250,000+ shared resources and 10,000+ plugins in a 2025 filing.
CASE-M18 (Figma S-1), 2025
Before you start

How to build it
- B2B
- A template or workflow gallery where customers publish and remix each other's work.
- Web
- Community galleries and challenges where new work appears daily.
- Mobile
- Co-op modes or shared goals with friends so each session differs.
What can go wrong
